Full and partial dentures with gingival imitation, characterised teeth and individual characterisation of teeth. Within the last 10-15 years, in Europe and other western countries, the amount of denture wearers has beenheavily decreased. At the same time the demand from the patients with regards to quality, function and aesthetic has increased. Therefore as a dentist or dental technician we are obligated to produce dentures that look as natural as possible.

The patient
Persons who has white and homogeneous teeth are vital and young. Above often suits denture wearers very well though they often are way past 50….it seems unnaturally and incredible. It is a great help to have a picture of the patient showing her/his natural teeth. Use this picture to obtain a natural look and give the patient great influence with regards to the aesthetics.

Gingival imitation
It is possible to produce the denture flanges with colour variation which makes the false gingiva look natural. The technique is quite simple as you place various reddish colours of acrylic powder on top op each other dripping with monomer at each layer (in the flask). When you have finished the staining you pack normally.

Fig.1: Four various reddish acrylic colours have been placed in the flask. After approximately 10 minutes the denture can be packed with any crosslinked acrylic. The acrylic stain product used here is Kayon Stain Kit from Hydro-Cast, USA.
